Join SNO, the Friends of the Mississippi River and Macalester College for a free walking tour of the locks and dams. The Army Corps of Engineers is beginning to consider their ownership of two dams (Lower St. Anthony Falls and Lock and Dam No. 1, known as the Ford dam) with the potential for dam removal, and they want to make sure that they engage with key stakeholders and community members to guide their approach to considering the future of these dams. The possibility of dam removal opens up potential for new recreational opportunities and ecosystem restoration, and they want to ensure that as they engage with this process they include your perspectives.
We'll meet at the Wabun Picnic Area splash pad near the Ford Dam on August 10th at 5:30 pm. The tour is 90 minutes long. There is limited space so please be sure to sign up!
